[New Report] Impact-Based Legal Problems around Generative AI in Publishing, IPLR-IG-010
From Abhivardhan, our Chairperson
Indic Pacific Legal Research LLP has published its 10th Infographic Report since December 2023 (22nd Technical Report since 2021).
This infographic report is called "Impact-Based Legal Problems around Generative AI in Publishing, IPLR-IG-010" and you can access the report for free for a limited time at https://indopacific.app/product/impact-based-legal-problems-around-generative-ai-in-publishing-iplr-ig-010/
I also congratulate Samyak Deshpande, Sanvi Zadoo and Alisha Garg for their efforts to develop & curate this report at their level best possible.
We have quoted Carissa Véliz on privacy to mark the spirit of respecting human autonomy in creativity.
This report is so special to me.
Why? The publishing industry has been subject to many riff-raffs and problems due to limitedly disruptive yet substantive Generative AI "solutions".
Now, like a so-called self-obsessed legal academic, even I could say that GenAI violates copyright and patent laws. Okay, great - hands on - but what next?
I have always held a view that when issues get too generalised, they need to be handled and addressed with a much specific & nuanced perspective, with a lot of patience.
This report marks an outcome of my patience as well. We have addressed not only some of the most pressing intellectual property law issues surrounding the use of Generative AI in publishing, but also highlighted how things escalate to create legal abnormalities and a point of no return.
Since Mr India (Anil Kapoor) is getting famous for his mention in the TIME magazine for AI - I am sure this report will be fascinating for people interested in understanding the substandard realities of the Generative AI ecosystem.
Happy reading this report folks!

In the times when using third party #artificialintelligence LLMs is becoming a fad, it is natural to ask some basic questions around what copyright or patent law frameworks may be applied, and in what way.
