Here's an interesting short story to tell. โจ
I am asked by random people in the legal tech and other startup circles to advise them on legal tech and technology law for free, and I decline them unequivocally for a reason. ๐ซ
I just respect my work, because I am a specialist in AI Governance / Technology Law, and will always stand with those who develop specialisation in things. ๐ผ Unlike corporate lawyers who claim they are the only "AI lawyers", I am one of the few AI Governance specialists in India, humbly and happily, because I love what I do. ๐ก
Why? Today's world has a weird pain that being a specialist in any area - tax, climate, governance, health - is being seen in a discouraging manner, because of these AI solution providers making ambitious claims. ๐
Now, beyond this common sense point, there is another reason why I never intend to (1) keep the membership of Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law FREE; and (2) advise for free. โ๏ธ
Indic Pacific Legal Research LLP alone hosts 115 blogs at Visual Legal Analytica for FREE, with 305 contributions (downloadable papers and reports) at https://indopacific.app - go read it - who stopped you? ๐
The Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law houses 188 blogs on their isail.in site since 2019, mind you. ๐ ISAIL also has a major share in the number of 305 publications on the IndoPacific App. Go, read them, share them, and learn.
Since we have enough free resources for a lawyers, law students and businesses to learn, we do not owe anyone any charity. ๐ฃ
That being said, the ISAIL membership will have a payment requirement because it is a commitment from individuals and organisations. ๐ฏ
I have explained this in a podcast in Hindi, as well: https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/indopacific/episodes/Bharat-Pacific-ka-AI--Episode-1--WTF-is-ISAIL-IN-e31nvnb
If you cannot show a basic commitment to a not-for-profit community like ISAIL that has changed lives of many, then you need to introspect. ๐ค
At my own time, I help a lot of Masters & PhD Scholars in law, technology and policy, who are not supported by India's education system so that they get some help and become better teachers or do some innovation. ๐ฑ
I think I've done enough of my "social cause" side, and while I will still do and ISAIL will remain not-for-profit, we will not enable "freebies" because I built India's biggest technology law knowledge repository, like ever. ๐
