We should Embrace other AI Companies, and not just OpenAI. Here's why.
From Abhivardhan, our President
Thanks to Gary Marcus' post on X - I came to know about ExtensityAI, with respect to their work on Model Context Protocols.
See this is why I wanna follow underrated companies like Extensity AI etc, not the big ones like OpenAI.
It matters who tried to innovate. Just because they don’t have millions of marketing money doesn’t mean they don’t matter. Maybe their product is good, maybe their client base is more happy. Good case studies
OpenAI is ideally trying to do what IBM and Microsoft did - ecosystem building. Unlike Microsoft, OpenAI has a bunch of desperate people. Their researchers openly claim on X they have achieved AGI. Their CEO makes unclear statements like - shifting from industrial revolution to renaissance.
If everything is a yapping stock of words for marketing, then "vibes" isn't true AI integration.
At least, I'd trust Satya Nadella relatively than Sam, because Microsoft is focusing on growth-inducing practices. Their invasive practices are to be questioned too, but they are a long-standing venture than a desperate research lab.
But yes, nothing against OpenAI. They are doing what they show. Their researchers are resigning, they recommend policies which are rejected even by the Trump Administration.
While Microsoft had something to offer in 1990s (read Samir Saran and Anirban Sarma's amazing and recent book - Geotechnography), I don’t think OpenAI has anything to offer if it claims its supposed title of "monopolization".

Btw, I have highlighted some segments of the book in this post, in the PDF carousel, so check them out. But as a fan of Huntington, and some good IR theorists like Dugin, here's an excerpt that stood out:
"The battles erupting online have strong cultural undertones, and support Huntington’s hypothesis that the principal conflicts of global politics will occur between nations and groups of different civilizations. Today, these ‘civilizations’ consist of ever-expanding cloud societies, and clashes between them—often enabled by Big Tech—extend beyond the social and cultural to the political and military as well."
That is why Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law is developing an AI use cases stack for all so that we know which companies are doing kickass work. It is taking its own sweet time, all that I know.
Otherwise forget AI-led economic growth lol. Monopolies can’t work. We need more ethically sourced and sustainable AI businesses and start-ups.
P.S.: I have assessed Perplexity's position on Google's antitrust issues, read and share it to someone who may need it: https://www.indicpacific.com/post/examining-the-perplexity-position-on-antitrust-issues-associated-with-google
