Introducing the Sonbhadra Principles for Inclusive Artificial Intelligence in Social Empowerment and Digital Governance [The Sonbhadra AI Principles]
From Abhivardhan, our President
AI for social empowerment schemes? Why not?
In fact - there is nothing wrong to use automation to further the provision of social sector schemes to people in India, who belong to the reserved categories, as several state and national-level government schemes have enabled social empowerment for them.
In fact - despite several contradictions in the India AI Competency Framework for AI Integration - many bureaucrats and other public officials might be vying and pondering how AI can be just "retrofitted".
However, while there have been usual post-colonial debates about caste discrimination, and lack of access issues - it is rather better to address the ergonomic limits of government schemes irrespective of identity issues first, since access to government schemes, their benefits, the shelf-life of any of these schemes cannot be compromised.
This is why, at the recommendation of Deepanshu Singh, Distinguished Expert of the ISAIL Advisory Council, the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law has published the Sonbhadra Principles for Inclusive Artificial Intelligence in Social Empowerment and Digital Governance [The Sonbhadra AI Principles].
You can now read the published version of the Sonbhadra AI Principles at https://www.isail.in/the-bharat-pacific-principles/the-sonbhadra-principles-for-inclusive-artificial-intelligence-in-social-empowerment-and-digital-governance-%5Bthe-sonbhadra-ai-principles%5D
We thank Sankalp Srivastava, Manohar Samal, MCIArb and others from the ISAIL Advisory Council for their valuable feedback.
We're seeking knowledge partnership proposals from across India, specifically focusing on the Sonbhadra AI principles. Our aim is to address social empowerment as an India-specific issue, ensuring solutions are tailored to local contexts and needs.
