Committee Session #2 - Strategic Implications of AI on Global Geopolitics & Economics, April 24, 2024, 6 PM IST
Objective: The session aims to provide a platform for a deep and analytical exploration of how AI is reshaping the geopolitical and geo-economic landscapes. We will investigate the multifaceted impacts of AI on international power structures, economic development, and strategic competition, with a particular focus on the nuanced interplay between technological advancements and statecraft.
Since the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law is an India-based industry forum, our focus will be a little tilted towards Indo-Pacific issues as well.
We are keen to address these questions in this proposed committee session:
What specific geopolitical risks and opportunities does the advancement of AI present for small and medium-sized economies in the global economy?
In what ways might AI-driven economic growth (if there is any) in the global economy (esp. the Indo-Pacific region) reshape global trade patterns and economic alliances?
What are the potential impacts of AI on the labor markets of the global economy, and how might this affect migration patterns and international relations?
How might the integration of AI in critical infrastructure within the Indo-Pacific region alter strategic dependencies and vulnerabilities on a global scale?
Please note that this is not a panel discussion, and a committee session, whose inputs will be documented and published by the Secretariat of the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law.
Call for Participation: We cordially invite specialists and thought leaders from prestigious institutions such as the Takshashila Institution, Asia Society, Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Council of Strategic and Defence Research (CSDR), the Indo-Pacific Circle (IPC), and others to join us in this exploration.
Your expertise is invaluable in dissecting the trends and implications of AI's role in the global economy and its potential to alter geopolitical equilibria.
Expert Contributions: We are honoured to have already confirmed the participation of experts from the technology law segment, who will provide insights into the legal and ethical considerations of AI's progression. We are eager to complement these perspectives with those from the fields of geopolitics and geoeconomics.
How to Express Interest: If you are interested in contributing to this critical discourse or know of a colleague whose expertise aligns with the theme of our session, please contact us at executive@isail.co.in to express your interest or provide a recommendation.
We anticipate a session that not only fosters intellectual exchange but also informs policy and guides future research in this pivotal area.Thank you for considering this invitation, and we look forward to the possibility of your participation.
Our Advisory Council experts will be leading this committee session in April or May.
Please note that for this session, we will only consider requests from domain experts, specialists or young scholars (including post-graduate scholars, if necessary).
The deadline to submit the Expression of Interest is April 20, 2024.
